Online Pond Retailer Launches New Garden Pond Kits

Everything you need to create a garden pond, after you have dug a hole.

6th April 2017, an online pond retailer, has just relaunched its website, to make it a simple one stop shop for anyone who would like to buy a garden pond kit, that has everything required to set up a new pond in the garden. The kits come in a range of sizes, but all include underlay, pond liner, a filter and pump, 5 metres of pipe and clips.

The underlay helps protect the pond liner from roots or sharp stones. The liner prevents the water from seeping into the ground. The pump is mains powered and powers the filter, which works to keep the pond water clean and clear. There is seven sizes to choose from; 2000 litres (£150), up to 30,000 litres (£449). The smallest sized kit will create a pond 2.5m x 2m x 0.6m deep. The largest will create a pond sized 6.7m x 4.6m x 1m deep, with pumps and filters selected for the size of the pond. The pump / filter should be hard wired into an outdoor electrical switch box by an electrician or a competent person. All equipment is plugless.

Due to the amount of waste Koi fish produce, the pump and filters are not suitable for ponds stocked exclusively with this type of fish. However, a few can be added to a mixed pond with fish such as Goldfish, Golden Orfe and Shubunkins. Similar to Goldfish. Golden Orfe as the name suggests are golden yellow in colour. They can grow to about 1.5ft (46cms) in length, are quite thin bodied and can live for up to 20 years. Adult Shubunkins are about 10 to 15 inches in length, they are mottled in colour, white, black and orange and have fantails. They can also live many years.

As well as being suitable as an ornamental fish pond, a garden pond is great for local wildlife, and can be an attractive and tranquil feature in the garden, with aquatic plants, such as water lilies added,
